Cleveleys

Sandy Bay local town Cleveleys

Cleveleys is a family friendly seaside town between Fleetwood and Blackpool. It has a busy thriving town centre with lots of bargain shops, and a mix of nationwide brands and independent shops. There is also a street market held every Wednesday from April- September at the Plaza, a circular performance space against the sea wall. There are plenty of cafes to choose from for a bite to eat, or why not try some fish and chips?

Once you head onto the seafront there are some amusement arcades to keep you entertained. There is the multiscreen Vue cinema on the seafront for any rainy days!

The promenade at Cleveleys has been completely rebuilt and was finished in 2010. With its primary function being a sea defence, the beautiful promenade offers and ideal place to cycle or stroll along, while taking in the delightful views. From the promenade you can enjoy the coast with direct access to the fabulous stretch of sandy beach, an ideal place for the family to enjoy and build sandcastles. On a clear day you are able to see the Isle of Man across the Irish Sea, and the offshore wind farm – see if you can try and count the wind turbines!

The Sea Swallow is a children’s fairy tale about Cleveleys Mythic Coast. The Sea Swallow book is written by Gareth Thompson and is brought to life by a sculpture trail along the seafront. It is well worth taking the time to follow The Mythic Coast Artwork Trail, designed by local designer, Stephen Broadbent. The most prominent sculpture is the ‘Seashell’, this can be found on the sand when the tide is out.
