Preston is built on a rich history and is definitely worth a visit. There are events throughout the year, from exhibitions, street theatre, live music and poetry nights, there is always something to experience.
The city centre has beautiful architecture, in particular along Fishergate towards The Harris museum. Preston can definitely be described as a shopping destination with two shopping centres, a bustling high street and the indoor (daily) and outdoor markets.
The well known Guild Wheel is a 21 mile circular route, taking in the city’s rural and urban sights. Popular with cyclist and walkers, the Guild Wheel is a great experience. The Harris museum has free entry and offers different exhibitions, workshops and events throughout the year.
Preston Docklands is a lovely setting for a stroll around the old docks. You can grab a bite to eat on the way round or even take a ride on a steam train at Ribble Steam Railway.
